ANNUAL BENEFIT
LETTER CAMPAIGN - NOVEMBER
Every November Fundraising
Chairmen Madonna Lewis (also MOW Treasurer) and Thomas Mattern
(Past President) mail hundreds of letters to businesses and
individuals in the community, asking for financial support to
sustain our meal service program. The letter explains that donations
allow us to charge a reasonable price for recipients’
meals although those fees do not cover the costs we incur. Donations
help us with monthly expenses such as food and disposable containers.
The letter includes a return envelope for convenience and encourages
gifts made “in honor of” or “in memory of”
as a special way to pay tribute to someone. Our secretary acknowledges
each contribution with a personal note. All gifts given are
tax deductible to the donor as MOW is a not-for-profit 501(c)3
organization.
ANNUAL APPRECIATION LUNCHEON – SECOND WEDNESDAY
IN MAY
In May the MOW Board of Trustees
plans a luncheon to recognize the service of our many volunteers.
It is a festive event to show appreciation to our fifty regular
drivers/deliverers, substitutes and about thirty kitchen volunteers
who regularly donate their time and effort to our program. The
catered luncheon is well-received with usually about 100 persons
attending, including many recipients who enjoy socializing with
the volunteers. We arrange for our drivers to chauffeur the
recipients to and from the luncheon and those who attend take
a light meal home with them. Entertainment is provided by the
Select Choir from Chagrin Falls Intermediate School, much to
the delight of everyone. MOW could not exist without the service
and dedication of the many volunteers who make a difference
in the lives of our recipients. We are pleased to honor them
during this annual luncheon.
